Topic:
Where To Base Our Judgment (Part 3)
Continued from the last
episode-
Therefore, the emphasis here is on Christ and the Christ
we are talking about is not just the physical Christ or a picture of Christ. We
shouldn’t be messed up by religion and begin to think in that direction. There
is no other way to focus or know Christ except by His Word. In this case we are
talking about focusing on Christ as in focusing on His word. Jesus, replying to
Satan said to him “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by
every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4). We
understand that what prompted Jesus to make this statement is because of the
temptation the enemy brought forward, which means Jesus was in precarious
situation and the only thing that can wage the war against the enemy is the
Word.
He (Jesus) made mention of man not living by bread alone
but by every word that proceeds from God. This implies that life can only be
sustained by the word of God irrespective of what life is facing. Therefore,
any life that is lacking the Word is liable to die or becomes worthless, and
this is not about what the physical appearance entails but what the inner being
of the man entails. That a man looks good in his appearance doesn’t mean he has
life or his life is being sustained. The only way to be sustained and have life
is to have the Word on the inside of a man and any man that has the Word has
life and is sustained. I said all of that to say this, when situations crop up
it is the Word that neutralizes the pressure it brings and with the Word one
can always overcome the adverse effects of any negative situation.
So, if one can always overcome any adverse situation with
the Word, It is therefore important we look at the veracity and potency of the Word, because if one can ascertain the
potency and veracity of the word it will be easy for one to rely on the Word.
It is important to point out that, no matter how potent the Word can be, it
will take knowledge to prove its veracity because if the Word is not known, the
efficacy of it will not be known and ascertained. Here comes the issue of
foundation or platform of an individual, what makes the foundation of an individual strong is the level of his or
her knowledge in the Word. If one knows little, he or she wouldn’t achieve much from the Word of God
irrespective of the potency of the Word.
Therefore, knowing and application of the Word is very
necessary. And by application I mean making the Word a usable tool or implement
in a situation, this is what is called wisdom. This kind of wisdom demonstrated
from the Word of God is called the Wisdom of God. The Wisdom of God is
encapsulated in His Word, so anyone using the Word of God to solve or resolve
issues in his or her is applying God’s Wisdom. This Wisdom is an infallible
type because that is the nature of it. Let’s see the book Hebrews and flip over
to chapter 4:12 and it reads “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and
sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul
and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts
and intents of the heart.”
Here, the writer of the book of Hebrews in the quotation
above made a description of the nature of the Word of God and it he says
firstly; the Word is quick, powerful and sharper and he goes on to make a
contrast between the Word and twoedged sword. This implies that even if
twoedged sword is quick, powerful and sharper in its action but it cannot be
compared to what the Word is in his action towards situation or life issues. He
also went ahead to describe how the Word does his work, it states that the Word
pierces and has the ability to divide asunder of the soul and spirit. Now this
is impossible for twoedged sword to do but the Word is being wired to do this.
Not only that the Word has the ability to divide asunder the soul and spirit,
he can as well do same to the joints and marrow of bones. Here, the twoedged
sword can cut the bones but has no ability to separate the marrow from the
joints though it is sharper.
