Continued from last episode-
Preamble: There is obvious gross interpretation of the
Scripture as a result of the way and manner the Scripture has been studied and
read. The inappropriate studying and reading of the Scripture has led to wrong
interpretation of the Scripture and that has resulted into wrong application of
what the Scripture says.

prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?”

“But ye have not so learned Christ;”
Ephesians 4:20
This is very important because a lack of proper
understanding of the Scripture will definitely make someone to teach and induce
wrong doctrine to his or her adherences. This may not be an intentional act but
as a result of knowledge limitation and because of this many by proxy have
become false teachers. On the other hand if such individual hears the right
teaching from someone else who by virtue of revelation knowledge grasps the lines
of the Scripture and he or she refuses to amend, then such individual is a confirmed
false teacher. Teaching here doesn’t necessarily mean verbal, it also involve
practices and ordinances observe by people who are in position and those below
them can imitate them.
Now we saw a similar situation between Apostle Paul and
Apostle Peter, it happened that Apostle Peter was wrongly inducing a doctrine
that is not in line with the truth and Apostle Paul came in to redirect his
steps and he immediately concur to the assertions of Apostle Paul. This implies
that Apostle Peter was not a false teacher because though he was dishing out
something that is wrong, he was able to amend when correction from the
Scripture came via Apostle Paul. One thing to hold here is that, Apostle Peter
didn’t say that he is the senior and therefore, Apostle Paul has no right to
correct him, he accepted the correction notwithstanding.
This should be the mind of every one who is teaching or
preaching the gospel. No one has monopoly over knowledge and not even the
knowledge of the Scripture; therefore they should have an open mind and ready
to accept correction when it is coming. This will definitely enhance the
knowledge capability of the people under him or her. This shouldn’t be a thing
of ego, one should be ready to condensed his or her individual ego and forgo
about pride and take up the correction. This is not just because of him or her
but mainly because of the souls under him or her and it pays to do so because
such a person will definitely earn regard in the sight of the people under him
or her.
For this reason Apostle Paul advised his progeny in the
Lord Pastor Timothy thus: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of
season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.” (2Timothy
4:1). So, it is important that one teaches the right doctrine when the influx
of the wrong doctrine is there and sticks to it until it gains ground. The
benefit can be seen from the advice Apostle Paul gave to Pastor Timothy thus “Take
heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this
thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.” The interest of taking
correction is not just about you but about others as well. As a leader, the
correction you accept and teach will permeate the souls of the people you lead
and it helps to bring them to the right knowledge.
However, the right knowledge cannot be ascertained in
error!
