Continued from the last episode-
This shows that the prayer of a believer should be considered answered already because the believer’s father is a giving father. He understands and can always identify with the problem of his child without upbraiding. This is an indication that God will stop at nothing in protecting His own. And with this kind of thought in the mind of the believer, victory is assured.
A lack of knowledge of this very fact will definitely make the believer vulnerable in the face of any situation, because it will pose an identity issue. And any believer that is into identity crisis has a serious issue in his hand, because the aftermath of such a level of life is a total implode of self-confidence.
This will definitely occur because the believer doesn’t really know where he belongs and will of course not put trust in the Word of God since he has not identify properly with his source. This kind of situation will create an unstable mindset in the life of the believer and the believer will lack focus and it means he cannot withstand any pressure from an opposing force.
The reality is that the believer will only get to know who he is through the Word. The Word gives the believer what his perfect image is. And as a matter of fact, if there is a lack of proper communication and understanding between the Word and the believer, the believer will definitely walk beside himself and such is dangerous for the believer.
In most cases is not that the believer does not read or hear the Word but the issue is, the believer doesn’t really focus on what the Word has said concerning him as regards to the situation he’s facing. Apostle James puts it this way: “For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass. For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.” (James 1:23-24) The problem is not that the
I want to say here that whatever the Word says is the description of what the believer is and if by any means the believer refuses to do that it shows that he or she has lost his identity. The next verse made this avowal that “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.” (1:25). The statement above calls the Word ‘perfect law of liberty’ which implies that in the Word, liberty is found and outside the Word what is found is bondage. It is therefore important to point that the consequence of doing what is found in the law of liberty is blessing and the blessing here is victory over challenges in life.
Focus therefore remains a key factor here. For sure without focus, the believer will veers from the image the Word has created for him. Here, is important we discuss about the entry point of the distractive agents in the life of the believer. So the believer has to guard himself and make sure that these entry points are properly secured and by so doing he will avert the danger of distraction in his life. Firstly, to avoid distractions, the bible instructs the believer to guard his heart “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:23). Notice that it says that “for out of it are the issues of life”, this implies that before issues in life can be resolved it has to be settled in one’s heart. It also means that the heart accommodates issues, whatever that comes into the heart through these channels settle in the heart.
So, the heart is like the ground of the body of the believer and whatever that is planted in it grows to affect the life of the believer, hence the need to properly guard the heart. This makes the heart the target of every issue, all issues would like to have a place in the heart, and if a place is offered or provided for the issue it settles and begins to cause its havoc in the life of the individual that has hosted it. These issues come in verbal and visual format. The believer is required to sieve anything coming into his heart and ascertain if such be hosted or discarded.
