Topic: Where To Base Our Judgment (Part 5)

Continued from the last episode-

So, when one is up in a situation and he or she understands the fact that the Word is a sure tool in dealing with issues he or she will be very much at home with the issue(s) because his or her platform is the Word which never fails. In the book of Jeremiah, God asked this question “Is not my word like as a fire?  saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” This rhetoric question is a reminder to the people of Israel about the capability of His Word. Let’s decipher what this means a little bit- The Word is like a hammer, this statement is a means or a way to compare what the Word is at the surface, because really nothing can be compared to the Word. The Word being like a hammer means that it can be used in a way hammer is being used. Hammer is a tool to break something that is hard and to penetrate hard object into another object.

Now, consider this, the statement above implies that if one is in a situation, he or she can use the Word of God to break the making and substance of that situation into pieces. Assuming the situation is a stumbling block, it is the Word that can be used to evacuate it out of the way, even the hardcore type. It is the Word one can use to penetrate and permeate God’s will for one in a situation. This process requires that one continues to speak the Word over the situation as often as desired and in a little while, the situation will definitely melt. This can only be possible because the Word is the hammer that can destroy any situation in one’s life. Remember, there are objects you can hit once and it scatters and there are some you need to hit again and again before the bond holding its substance is broken. So, some situations in one’s life are like that.

Again it says that the Word is like as a fire. Now we understand what fire is like, we know that even the hardest substance or object melts in the presence of fire. This statement is implying that no matter how hard the situation may have appeared, it is subject to the heat of fire. So the Word is the fire that has the ability to melt situations no matter how hard they may be on the surface. So a believer who is using the Word to fight against any situation in his or her life should have it in mind that the Word which he or she applies on the situation will definitely break and consume the situation. This assurance is because the Word is like hammer and fire which breaks and burns situations.

Sometimes, there is this scenario where it does as if one is applying the Word and the situation seems to linger, instead of it diminishing it’s expanding. And here one may be thinking that the Word is not effective, since the situation is not responding to it by disappearing from the scene. One thing that should be in the mind of every believer while tackling situation is that believers doesn’t walk by what they see but by what the Word says. Now, this is called faith. See what the bible says in Corinthians: (For we walk by faith, not by sight) 2 Corinthians 5:7. This implies that as believers we do not look at the surface and the surface cannot form our bases in making decision as regards to any situation that comes up in our lives. This is important and it is good that we understand that situations are like a mirage and that they have apparent natures as a result they are not what they appear to look like on the surface.

An understanding of this very vital fact will definitely help the believer to guard his loins while standing against situation in his or her life. This is because when one focuses on what one has seen on the surface, the hugeness and vastness of the situation will carry one away from one’s position. And at this point in time it is easy for the situation to overthrow that particular individual hence a believer should avoid the temptation of walking by sight and stick his or her gaze and focus on the Word. However, again it is good to state that what makes a believer to lose ground while fight against any situation in his or her life is when a believer has not really understood who God has made him or her to be.
