Topic: To Avoid Error – Have The Right Interpretation Of The Scripture (18)
Continued from last episode-

Preamble: There is obvious gross interpretation of the Scripture as a result of the way and manner the Scripture has been studied and read. The inappropriate studying and reading of the Scripture has led to wrong interpretation of the Scripture and that has resulted into wrong application of what the Scripture says.

Anchor Text:
“And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?”
Acts 8:30
Text of Interest:
“But ye have not so learned Christ;”
Ephesians 4:20

Again, judging by the stipulation of the quotation above, it wouldn’t be a mistake if someone says that God in the old order cleansed or justified the Gentiles. In a vision it was revealed to Apostle Peter, that beforehand, God has cleansed the Gentiles and if God has cleansed them who is Peter to Judge or condemn them. This mystery is being revealed in the New Testament, and it means even in the Old Testament in the mind of God the Gentiles as they were called are a people of God. Just that the people who think they knew God then didn’t know Him better in that direction and hence the segregation. Let’s see what is said in the scripture by prophet Hosea –

“And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.”
Hosea 2:23
In the quotation above, it is easy for one to deduce that God never separated Himself from the Gentiles; but the separation was an establishment built in the mindset of people who thought they knew God. So the advent of the Holy Ghost revelation of the scripture to the Apostles made matters better and people could really see and know the mind of God.
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:9-10
The people in the old order didn’t see and never heard what the Holy Ghost has revealed to the Apostles and these revelations made greater impact in the knowledge of God in the present dispensation. The coded nature of the scripture in the eyes of the people of the old order hindered the spreading of the gospel of salvation to all mankind. Their eyes were limited within the periphery of the level of knowledge they had at that particular time. Apostle Paul speaking to Timothy his spiritual son, made it clear to him that his knowledge of the Scripture granted him the ability to possess wisdom which is rooted in faith in Jesus Christ; and as a result of that he has received salvation (2 Timothy 3:15).
Therefore, it is very important that the Scripture should be unlocked, so that people of different ages should see what the provisions of God have been especially as regards to man’s salvation. For instance many in those eras missed their salvation because they lack the knowledge of what the Scripture has said concerning them.
Remember no one can ascertain the truth while in error!
