“But
as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.”
1 Cor 2:9 – 10 (KJV)
Case Study Text:
“And
so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but
that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

Cor 15:45 – 47 (KJV)
In the morning of His resurrection
day, He met with Mary (Jn 20:16 – 18), thereafter; He left to see the Father
with His blood and to cleanse heaven (Heb 9:21 – 24) where His office of Priesthood
is located. On His arrival at the gate of heaven, a welcome ceremony was
conducted by the host of heaven who announced His arrival. The gate of heaven
was opened for Him and He entered and took His position as the King of Glory
(Ps 24:8 – 10). After the offering was accepted, He returned to reveal Himself
now to the people that matters (Jn 20:19 – 20, 26, Luk 24:34 – 53), and also to
inculcate to them the things that happened along the line within the three days
He was in the grave. There is no way any of them would have known what happened
except He made it known to them. So He came back and stayed around for 40days
therein He was teaching and making known the things they should know that
happened through His death, burial and resurrection. And how what He went
through fulfills what was said in the law and the prophets (Luk 24:44 – 47). This
was the most exclusive and raw teaching they ever received from Him because
before His death He taught them in parables.
However, to the disciples, the absence
of their Master really created a leadership vacuity in them that needed to be
filled if ever they must continue as one group. The leadership vacuum
intensified and ingratiated the fear of the Jews in them and which led some if
not all to start thinking of going back to their former vocations.
Nevertheless, His incessant sudden appearances to them sometimes at very odd
moments and times (Jn 21) really helped to restore hope in them to forge ahead
in the ministry. If He had gone to sit in heaven after His resurrection without
coming around within that period of time, His disciples would have dispersed
and all that He labored would have become an act of futility. Interestingly, He
cannot continue with them in that way because the business of heaven is calling
and so His final departure at the appropriate time will definitely usher in the
comforter who will minister to the disciples on His behalf. On the day of His
departure, He gave them the great commission and urged them to continue to
spread the message of the Kingdom and indoctrinate those that will believe in
their message with it.
On the other hand, a promise was made
to them within a space of ten days that the Comforter will arrive therefore;
they should stay together in expectant for the Comforter who is to come. Their
staying together here is not for the sake of it, but to continue with a
heartfelt and earnest prayer for the promise of the Father to come pass. And this
they continued to do until the arrival of the comforter on that Pentecost
day. It is interesting to know that, all
these while they have known their master (the incarnate Jesus) in the flesh,
but they needed to know Him now as the risen Lord, and this can only be
possible by the anointing of the Holy Ghost. It will definitely be a difficult
thing for them to come to terms with what it means to be in Christ or of His
fullness, because a natural man cannot comprehend these.
It is the Holy Ghost that will unfold
the required knowledge that is needed in understanding of the mysteries behind
who the risen Lord actual is and what He has become which is no longer after
the flesh. Also, it is the Holy Ghost that will quicken or catalyze the
enforcement of the New Testament; you may recall that before His death Jesus
initiated the New Testament thereby taking away the Old Testament. The content
of the New Testament can only be interpreted by the Holy Ghost and of course
the New Testament cannot take effect unless He dies (Heb 9:16 – 18). On His
arrival the Holy Ghost anointed them with the power that took away fear from them
and the sign of His arrival was made manifest with the evidence of speaking in
tongues. These tongues could not be comprehended with human reasoning, hence
the gift of interpretation was given to as many that were around that day at
the Solomon’s porch and they could hear them in their local languages.
The arrival of the Holy Ghost created
in them the needed boldness that enhanced their ability to speak out and
declared the gospel without the fear of the Jewish authority. Also, the arrival
of the Holy Ghost helped to remind them of everything Christ taught them and
without mincing words they were able to deliver their messages perfectly.
