What The Blessing Is (Part 14)
Continued
from the last episode:
Preamble: Knowing and understanding what the
blessing is will definitely enhance our Christian life. Over the years there
has been a misconception or misnomer about what the blessing of God is, and as a
result many who are blessed are thinking they are not and many who are not are
basking in great fallacious delusion thinking they have arrived. In this topic,
we are going to painstakingly unfold the meaning of the blessing of God.

Of Interest:
“The
blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
Notice that not knowing what has been
made available would mean that someone has to live a life of emptiness where he
or she supposed to live a life of abundance. Therefore, knowing is very
important because is from knowing that one can have, and knowing can be
possible when one’s eye of understanding is enlightened. Therefore, Apostle
Paul quipped “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may
know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his
inheritance in the saints,” (Eph 1:18). The full manifestation of the blessing
of God is etched on the understanding of who God is, because such will create
the needed trust that a believer should have. When you understand that the blessing
is emanating from God and you understand the nature and character of God, there
is no two ways about, you anchor your faith on Him. And if the reverse is the
case the presence of the blessing will never be noticed though it has been
given.
So, for the blessing of God to really
manifest, one has to have faith in what was said concerning him or her and also
being rest assured that he or she has been blessed by God irrespective of what
his situation and environment suggests. Faith therefore, becomes an important
factor in harnessing all that God must have given and bringing them into
reality. By faith one should agree and be convinced in his or her knower that
he or she is blessed, standing on this point will help to quicken the zeal for
one to draw from the deposit on the inside of him or her. Like I said in the
earlier episodes, the word or the statement of the blessing comes with faith
that ignites hope and believes in the life of the receiver. But one thing is
very clear, and that is, the individual in question must receive the word of
the blessing by faith, if not it becomes a futile activity.
Of course, before you have faith in the
statement or word of the blessing, you must have developed faith in the source
of the blessing. Therefore, it is important to understand that the blessing
comes with the character and nature of the giver and in that case one cannot
separate the character and nature of the giver from the blessing because in the
blessing the giver is found. Thus for the blessing to find full expression and
manifestation in the life of the receiver, he or she must have to understand
the character and nature of the giver and by faith live them out; because it is
not possible for one to be in the blessing and live an opposite life to the
life of the giver. That will be tantamount to decaying the growth of the
blessing and as time goes on its effects will not be noticed again because the
character and nature of the giver is not found in the manifestation of the
blessing.
Here, talking about the growth of the
blessing, it is important to understand that the blessing grows and the growth
is found in the unfolding knowledge of the giver, the more knowledge of the
giver one acquires the more he or she grows in the blessing. Like I rightly
said before, one cannot live the life of the blessing without the character and
nature of the giver infused in it. So the beauty of the life of the blessing is
to behave like the giver in living a blessed life. God is the giver and
interestingly, the giver is always blessed than the receiver, so He is the
giver and once the blessing is received, the receiver has no option than to
give out what he or she has received and by so doing the blessing will continue
to unfold in his or her hand mightier. See what Apostle Paul has to say here “I
have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak,
and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to
give than to receive” (Acts 20:35). And if the reverse is the case here, it
will definitely affect the growth of the blessing in the life of the receiver.
However, it is important to understand
the nature of the giving, how one should give out the blessing, because if that
is not understood one might make a mess of it. Now consider that you have
received from God, and you never did anything before the blessing was
pronounced on you. Just because, God has created you and as a matter of fact He
has to bless you and it was done unconditionally. In the same way He has
blessed you so you should dissipate the blessing without any condition placed
on it, see Matthew 10:8. Remember, conditional blessing is not in God’s character,
it is disobedience that induces conditional blessing and God is not in such
blessing.
