Topic:
What The Blessing Is (Part 15)
Continued
from the last episode:
Preamble: Knowing and understanding what the
blessing is will definitely enhance our Christian life. Over the years there
has been a misconception or misnomer about what the blessing of God is, and as a
result many who are blessed are thinking they are not and many who are not are
basking in great fallacious delusion thinking they have arrived. In this topic,
we are going to painstakingly unfold the meaning of the blessing of God.

Of Interest:
“The
blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
The question here is this, “If the
blessing does not manifest does it mean that God took His blessing back? The
answer is an emphatic no! Considering what has been said in the epistle to the
Roman chapter 11:29, which is “For the gifts and calling of God are without
repentance.” The absence of the blessing in the life of the believer should be
traced to the manner in which the blessing is being handled by the receiver.
Like I said earlier, removing the character and nature of the giver will make
the effects of the blessing not to manifest as supposed. Therefore, is
important to understand that the giver of the blessing does not segregate, He
gives to everyone both to the good and bad because He is a good and faithful
God. See what Jesus said in the gospel of Matthew, “That ye may be the children
of your Father which is in heaven: for hemaketh his sun to rise on the evil and
on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matt 5:45). So as
the carrier of the blessing of God, you should not segregate among people when
the need arise to help, though they might not be of the same tribe, religion
and class with you. Whatever blessing you have received was and is for the good
of mankind and shouldn’t be used to intimidate others.
For God to bless everyone that He has
created implies that He is an impartial God, and also it means that He loves everyone
that He has created equally. He doesn’t bless some and leaves some; He has made
adequate provision for the need of everyone and things He has created. No
creature lacks the basic necessities to sustain its life. Therefore, it is
right to say that God does not owe anyone or creature anything, “According as his divine power hath given
unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge
of him that hath called us to glory and virtue”(2 Peter 1:3). However, is
obvious that some people do have and some do not have, this ironically suggests
that the people who have are blessed by God and the rest that do not are not
blessed by God. However, this is a pure misrepresentation of who God is. Like
I rightly pointed out earlier, you can only receive something from someone if
you have something to do with him or her or you understand what he does.
This is why is very vital for the
message of faith to be spread across everywhere so that people who do not know will
get to know what God has done for them. It is a statement of fact that many are
missing out of the blessing of God because they have not known what God has
done for them especially in Christ. This condition is very prevalent even within
the fold of Christians and as a result they are living a life that is not met
for them. The awareness, consciousness and the realization of the fact that the
statement made above is very true of God, will definitely make one to saddle
himself or herself and embrace the reality and begin to accrued to himself or
herself the provisions of God. But the attitude of many people especially within
the church fold is such that portray them as people that are seeking something
from a God that owes them some material and spiritual things.
These things are happening because
there is this paucity of knowledge of what God has actually done for us as
believers. It is interesting to know that for one to properly understand what
the blessing of God is and how to harness it; one should as a matter of fact
understand what has been freely given to him or her in Christ. The blessing of
God is totally encapsulated in Christ, and as a result anyone in Christ has
come into the blessing of God. This is not a feeling but a knowing that should
be registered in the consciousness of every believer in Christ he or she has been
blessed. “And if ye be Christ's, then are
ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Gal 3:29).
Therefore, coming into Christ means coming into the blessing of God. Let me
reiterate and as well pretentiously say this that, the blessing of God are not
given in portions because Jesus Christ in whom the blessing of God is
established in was not given to us in portions but in fullness. Consider this, “And of his fullness have all we received,
and grace for grace.”(Jn 1:16), “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered
him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”
(Rom 8:32). “Charge them that are rich in
this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in
the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy” (1Tim 6:17).
Therefore, be rest assured that in
Christ God has given you all His blessing freely to enjoy.
Praise God!
