Let’s Talk Vision – (Part
Five)
Partly culled from my book
“Know Your Identity In God”
Text Of Interest:
“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it
shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely
come, it will not tarry.”
Habakkuk 2:3
As I rightly pointed out in the previous episodes that
for one to have the right vision such vision must originate from God. This is
understandable because, the fact cannot be over accentuated that no one here on
this earth can say for sure he knows when and how he or she came into this
world. The only thing he can talk about is the information he or she received
from his or her parents that he or she was born so and so day whether that is a
lie he cannot tell because surely it’s beyond his or her knowledge, therefore, cannot
help but accept what has been said to him or her. The implication of the
statement above is that our being here therefore is inclined on God’s
determination and man has no input to it.
If it is God’s determination that man should be here, it therefore an absolute statement that God didn’t venture in the creation of
man for the sake of it. It infers that there are things God would like to do
here on this earth that man is the channel He has ordained to be used to bring
such things to pass. Interestingly, man can only do those things through vision
and such vision must be of God for it to be meaningful, purposeful and useful
in the life of others. One thing is very sure and that is every vision that man
receives is given to him or her in order to affect the life of another
physically and spiritually. These kinds
of vision establishes indelible marks and are written on the face of history for
mankind to love and cherish and mostly emulate.
In the last episode, I stated that the last vision God has
is the vision to establish a Kingdom here on this earth and as it stands the
vision is partly in existence which is the Church. Therefore, whatever vision
man has that will attract God’s involvement will be that which is etched at
building His kingdom and such vision cannot be invalid physically and
spiritually. Let’s see a man who had the vision to invest in the development of
the Kingdom and he didn’t hesitate to do so. This is the
kind of vision that affects God’s heart.
"Thus Joseph who was surnamed by the Apostles
Barnabas (which means, son of encouragement), a Levite, a native of Cyprus,
sold a field which belonged to him, and brought the money and laid it at the
Apostles’ feet"
(Acts 4:36-37).
"News of this came to the ears of the Church in
Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to Antioch. When he came and saw the grace of
God, he was glad; and he exhorted them all to remain faithful to the Lord with
steadfast purpose; for he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith.
And a large company was added to the Lord. So Barnabas went to Tarsus to look
for Saul; and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch"
(Acts 11:22- 26a).
From the verses above it is easy to notice that Barnabas
lived up to the name that he answered, (the son of encouragement). He was
indeed of great encouragement to the Church. He sold his land; mobilized Paul
and aided him in becoming what he was and is in the gospel today. Barnabas saw
the real content of Paul. Even when the rest of the apostles were afraid of him,
he did not mind at all. He really motivated Paul, other Apostles and even the
entire Church. No wonder the Bible called him a good man.
Today, God is looking for people who will as well play
the role that Barnabas played in the Church. God is expecting the people with
the vision of building churches, training people for the work of God, preaching
the Gospel, shepherding the sons of God. Some people might be saying,
"Well, I don’t have anything; I am very poor, I am empty, just looking for
a way to survive". That should not be a problem for you to bother about.
The problem with many people is that they do not have any vision at all. Those
visions that are in line with what God is doing today should be part of you.
The means through which this is going to be accomplished is not for you to
decide. Have the vision and God will make up for the provision and even the
supervision. Some people will say, "But He is God, why does He need me to
do something for Him?” Well, the question should rather be, “why am I here? Is
it just to live, eat and probably marry and have children?” No! Your existence here has a bigger meaning than
these things.
