Topic:
What The Blessing Is (Part 13)
Continued
from the last episode:
Preamble: Knowing and understanding what the
blessing is will definitely enhance our Christian life. Over the years there
has been a misconception or misnomer about what the blessing of God is, and as a
result many who are blessed are thinking they are not and many who are not are
basking in great fallacious delusion thinking they have arrived. In this topic,
we are going to painstakingly unfold the meaning of the blessing of God.

“The
blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
I think a proper understanding of who
God is will definitely enhance the ability and knowledge of someone in
understanding the meaning of the blessing of God and how to accrue it to
oneself. Understanding God means understanding His nature, I mean His character
and disposition as regards to His relationship with man. We should come to
terms with this fact that whatever man is receiving in his life today has been
given by God even before He created the universe. It is not like God is giving
in reaction or responds to what man has done. God in His foreknowledge knew
that man will need things here on earth and as He was creating man, at the same
time was making provision for the things that will take care of man’s needs
here on earth. The book of Isaiah 46:10 says “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the
things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all
my pleasure”.
This implies that nothing can take God
by surprise; God cannot be flabbergasted by any situation that comes up in this
world because He knew about it before it took place and had proffered solution
or resolved it according to the council of His own will. However, it is worthy
to note that God is a purposeful God and cannot venture into anything meaningless.
Therefore, God created the earth not for the sake of it, but He created the earth
and everything inside purposefully and as a result made provision adequately to
take care of things here on earth. So the creation of the earth is accompanied
by the blessing of God. With this fact in mind, it implies that nothing that
exists in this earth with a vacuity of God’s provision. So by implication God
has met every need of everything that He has created, because before they were
created He knew them and saw beforehand what might be their needs and provided
without consulting the creatures.
However, is one thing for God to make
provision available for man is another thing for man to know what has been
provided for him by God; this therefore, becomes the issue. Watch this, “Now we have received, not the spirit of the
world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are
freely given to us of God” (1Cor 2:12). The fact remains that God has
released to man everything he might need in life and He is not holding anything
back, knowledge therefore becomes the key in taking hold of the provisions of
God. For instance, God has given peace and grace freely but it will only be
made known and multiply in our lives through the knowledge of who God is “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you
through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,” (2 Peter 1:2).To
understand how important it is for a believer to have the knowledge of God,
Apostle Paul also prayed for believers in this manner: “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give
unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” (Eph
1:17).
Therefore, the understanding of God’s will
and purpose helps to unleash someone into the arena of what God has provided
that is why Apostle Paul quipped in his epistle to the Colossians that “For this cause we also, since the day we
heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled
with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;”
this is it, being filled with the knowledge of His will, not just being filled
but being filled in all wisdom and spiritual understanding makes the difference.
This is important because for one to take hold of the blessing of God which
will definitely empower him or her to be rich, he or she must align to the will
of God. If you don’t know the source of your blessing there is no way you can
handle it. Remember, in the early episodes I stated that “The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with
it” (Provb 10:22). This quotation above suggests that there are blessings
that can be sourced from another source and such does add sorrow because it is
not of God though it makes one rich as well.
So the blessing of the Lord which adds
no sorrow will only be received or harness by someone by simply identifying
with the Lord who gives the blessing and such can be possible by receiving the
Spirit of God. As indicated by Apostle Paul in 1 Cor 2:12, it is the Spirit of
God that will expose someone to those things that are freely given to him or
her in this life, also see Daniel 11:32. Therefore, the presence of the Spirit
of God terminates struggling in the life of anyone that has come into contact
with Him. Because he or she needs not to stumble or second-guess about issues
in life in that he or she will not lack direction inasmuch as the Spirit is
there in him or her.
