Topic: What The Blessing Is (Part 12)
Continued from  last episode:

Preamble: Knowing and understanding what the blessing is will definitely enhance our Christian life. Over the years there has been a misconception or misnomer about what the blessing of God is, and as a result many who are blessed are thinking they are not and many who are not are basking in great fallacious delusion thinking they have arrived. In this topic, we are going to painstakingly unfold the meaning of the blessing of God.

Text Of Interest:

“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”

Provb 10:22 (KJV)

It is interesting to know that the message of faith that came to someone and he or she accepts and receive the righteousness of God is called the message of Christ (Rom 10:8-11). The acceptance of the message of Christ gives one the room or opportunity to have identification with Christ, meaning that whatever God has wrought in Christ through His death, burial, resurrection and ascension is as well established in the life of that individual. The message of Christ establishes the fact that Jesus came into this world for the purpose of taking the place of man in judgment. That is what theologians call substitutionary death sentence or judgment and that is, the punishment that was made for man He came and took it. In that case He exchanged everything He was and has for the misery position of man and man took His glorious status let’s see what the book of Isaiah has for us “He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” (Isa 53:3-5).
The above verses are a prophecy about the Christ in which details or accounts of what He has to suffer because of man are revealed. The verses stipulates that it is because of us that He has to undergo the sufferings, those sufferings were not meant for Him but He took them for us, demonstrating the love of God for mankind. The state of man in the verses above can never be described as a blessed state because no one entangled with sin is blessed. Therefore, if someone is not blessed he or she is cursed and what happened is that the Christ according to the prophecy has come to take the curse that is laid on man upon Himself and became the curse for man so that man should receive His blessed nature, let’s see Galatians 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree.” This implies that when someone receives the message of faith or the message of Christ and believes in it, he or she has come into the finished work or Christ and receives the blessing in it.
The curse over his or her life has been lifted and the blessing of Christ is established in him or her. Let’s see how Apostle Paul puts it in his epistles to the Corinthians “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.” (2Cor 8:9). By implication the quotation here is insinuating that anyone living in sin is actually living in abject poverty because the riches of Christ has not been given to him or her. So as many that believes the message of Christ receives the righteousness of Christ and the riches of Christ is established in them. These riches are established in the life of a believer because he or she has gained his or her spiritual position back. It is very important to note that, these positions as numerated in the earlier episodes are just powerful positions that allow someone to exercise authority over and on everything here on earth. If that being the case, it is obvious that the believer is in the source of whatever he or she wants in life and cannot afford to lack them.
The confirmation is that God has given the believer everything he or she needs in this life and godliness, invariably God does not owe the believer anything.  “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” (2 Peter 1:3). There is nothing good God is holding back from the believer, He gave everything in order to demonstrate his love for mankind “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Rom 8:32). Therefore if a believer is not seeing the effect of the blessing of God in his or her life, it is not that God holds back the manifestation of the blessing from him or her but because he or she has not rightly understand what has been done or given to him or her.
