“But
as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.”
1 Cor 2:9 – 10 (KJV)
Case Study Text:
“And
so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but
that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

Cor 15:45 – 47 (KJV)
With the kind of mindset that
Nicodemus had it would have been a disaster or mindboggling thing if Jesus had opened
up on the manifestation of heavenly things in man like speaking in tongues and
have the fullness of God dwelling in man. Probably, he would have instantly
called Jesus a liar and walked out on him because as far as his kind of mindset
is concerned it is seemly impossible. However, Jesus took that opportunity to
unveil a doctrine that has not been taught by anyone and none of the people of
that era knew about it. And this doctrine is the main stay of His teachings and
surely the main driving force that necessitated His arrival here on earth. Yes
being born-again, those born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of
the will of man, but of God are the main issue. Indicating that, the
regeneration of man from the nature of the First Adam to a man that is born of
God is the prime thing to be considered. So Nicodemus was bewildered by that
statement but for sure that is the only way to belong to the Kingdom of God, a
Kingdom of the new species of men that have never existed before.
The citizens of this Kingdom will be
made of people who are of different races and tribes of the world. By this
means the wall of partition between the Jews and the Gentiles is broken and out
of these two races comes forth a new species of human race that never existed
before in the history of humanity. These are those that will believe in Him as
the gift of God that came down from heaven to die for their sins. And as many
that are in this category they are admitted into the Kingdom of God as God’s
children and co-heirs with Him.
It is worthy to mention that the only
way this could be possible is by Jesus being lifted up as Moses lifted up the bronze
serpent in the wilderness, which symbolizes His death on the cross. As those
folks were delivered from the attack of the serpent in the wilderness, so will
anyone who looks at Jesus shall be saved. “For God so loved the world that he
gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life.” So Jesus is the gift of God to the world, the only
gift that came down from heaven and before this time, nothing has ever come down
from heaven. Therefore, He made it known to them that He is the bread of life
that came down from heaven that every man should eat and have life. Whoever
that fails to eat Him will definitely have no part in Him and if one has no
part in Him, such cannot be in the kingdom of God. This statement was regarded
as hard sayings and of course should not be accepted and as a result many left
Him because their spirit couldn’t fathom it.
As by means of the disobedience of the
First Adam to the instruction of God, sin entered into the world and by the
entrance of sin darkness besieged the heart of men and their thoughts became
evil. Therefore, by default no man under the sun has good thoughts coming out
of him; all the thoughts of men are evil because darkness reigns in their
heart. So the coming of Jesus is to exterminate this darkness from the hearts
of men and by Him enters light into the world. So He declared, “I am the light
of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have
the light of life.” It is interesting to know that He said He is the light of
the world, not just the light of the Jews. This implies that in Him is light
and without Him there is not light in anywhere in this world, and no wonder as
many that abides in Him never wallow in darkness. Their deeds signifies light,
wherever there is darkness their arrival means the appearance of light.
Practically, Jesus came to bring light to the hearts of men and take away the
darkness that is there, this reconfigures the hearts of those who receives Him
in their hearts and they begin to manifest the rightful thoughts which are not
found in the world.
Yet as the First Adam disobeyed God’s instruction,
which made way for death to start reigning in the life of people. The entrance
of Adam’s sin brought forth death and life was nowhere to be found among men.
Again, Jesus declared that “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to
kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might
have it more abundantly.” The life to have here is not that ordinary life that
passes away, but that God’s kind of life that is not subject to physical death.
This means Jesus has come to offer mankind an eternal life. The implication of
this declaration cannot be grasped by a mind that is not circumcised by the
word of truth, on the surface, it is very odd for them to accept because they
are physically alive and doing their things and someone is talking about giving
them life. Which life again? Well, the life is the resurrected life! That man
will die physically but at the last day he will rise to live a perfect life
that is not subject to death anymore. He went ahead to give them foretaste of
what He meant as He said to Martha “I am the resurrection, and the life: he
that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever
liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
