Continued from the last episode:
Preamble: Knowing and understanding what the
blessing is will definitely enhance our Christian life. Over the years there
has been a misconception or misnomer about what the blessing of God is, and as a
result many who are blessed are thinking they are not and many who are not are
basking in great fallacious delusion thinking they have arrived. In this topic,
we are going to painstakingly unfold the meaning of the blessing of God.

Of Interest:
“The
blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
So far we have come to the agreement
that the blessing of God can be referred to as:
1. An empowerment to make riches.
2. The declaration of righteousness or righteous nature of
God on someone hence, righteousness is an empowerment.
3. It also means the declaration of someone sinless and
therefore ‘sinlessness’ is an empowerment.
4.
Anyone who has been declared sinless is righteous and has
been saved from the wrath to come or judgment, which means he or she has been
saved, salvation is given to him or her. Therefore, salvation is an empowerment
to make riches.
However, the receiving and believing
in the message of the gospel gives someone the platform to receive the
righteousness of God and what that means is that the restoration of his or her
spiritual positions begins. Let’s take a look at this verse in Apostle Paul’s
epistle to the Ephesians “Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual
blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Eph 1:3). The verse above
indicates that we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings and though somehow
we have misinterpreted this verse to be another thing entirely. Because we fail
to understand what the spiritual blessings are and begin to misplace them with
material things or gains. It is obvious that the spiritual blessings are listed
in the verses underneath it and we are going to take them one after the other
and examine their contents. These spiritual blessings are the spiritual
positions one has been restored unto after he or she must have received the
message of faith in Christ.
Number one position in the restoration
is that “According as he hath chosen us
in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without
blame before him in love” (Eph 1:4). This verse is saying that once one
received the message of faith and accepts it, one of the blessings contained in
the gift of righteousness is the restoration of holiness and blamelessness.
This implies that he or she has become a set aside individual for God and he or
she has become whole or oneness with God. And also, he or she is blameless in the
sight of God; there is no guilt in that individual no matter what! It is
interesting to know that this restoration is not based on any human judgment
but is all about the determination of God and nobody queries God’s decision.
You may say why? Well because He is God! The issue is that humanly speaking and
views there may be many indications that judging from someone’s past that he or
she supposed not to be blameless or holy, but it doesn’t change God view or
perception of that individual and that is just because he or she has accepted the
message of faith.
Another spiritual position that is
being restored in the life of that individual is found in this verse “Having predestinated us unto the adoption
of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his
will,” (Eph 1:5). This verse is indicating that before the foundation of
earth God has created and adopted us as His children but as the result of the
fall, this adoption couldn’t become a reality. But upon hearing the message of
the gospel and accepting it by faith, it changes everything and repositions
anyone that has received it in the spirit. So because he or she has received
the message of faith, the reality of God’s sonship is awakened and established
in him or her. He or she is restored in the family of God as a son; this
implies that he or she is entitled to partake in the common wealth of the
family of God. As a child of God, he shares in everything that has to do with
God, while standing, he doesn’t stand as a slave anymore, but as a freeborn
because he is no longer under any yoke but walks in glory and grace of God.
Becoming a child of God means that the DNA of God should be found in him or
her; I mean in his or her bloodstream what flows should be the blood of God!
Also it means that, coming into this
realm of God and becoming a child, has automatically made that individual a power
or an authority possessor. He possesses an authority that makes him different
from other people who are not members of God’s family. He or she has the power
to make decrees and they come into effect. This takes place because he or she
has been declared righteous and now having the right standing before God he or
she is blameless and holy in the sight of God. Therefore, he has the power that
is above the powers of darkness and can always subdue them. Unfortunately, many
have been made righteous, but because of lack of knowledge of who they have
become, they are unable to demonstrate this authority or power!
