“I
have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is
come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come.”
Jn 16:12-13
“Which
things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which
the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
1Cor 2:13
Case Study Text:
“All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works.”
2Tim 3:16-17 (KJV)
The New Testament provided the most
crucial thing every human being on this planet earth will not afford to miss
and that is eternal life or life eternal. This life is the life that is given
to one who has accepted the redemptive work of Christ which God wrought through
Him. This implies that all humans were dead and have no life in them until
Christ came and died and by his death life is offered to all. Therefore, living
in sin means living a life that is dead, though one may be physically alive but
such life without Christ is dead (Rom 5:14, Eph 2:2). But receiving the gospel of Christ means
receiving Christ and receiving Christ means having life and this life is an
immortal kind (1 Tim 1:16, 2 Tim 1:10 1Jn 5:12).
Christ coming to fulfill the Law creates
the platform that nullifies the strength of the Law against man (Matt 26:26 –
29, Jn 19:30, Heb 10:12). And He did that once and for all, not in the case of
the old order where it is required that an animal should be offered every year
for sin (Heb 10:1 – 2). The Law exposes the sin in man and cannot by any mean
be a means to earn eternal life (Heb 10:3). Therefore, the death of Christ is a
means that God has initiated in order to take the place of man and put on the
whole man’s sin on Himself, so that man should be exonerated from the
punishment as required by the Law (Acts 13:38 – 39, 2 Cor 5: 21).
It is very pertinent to mention that
in His foreknowledge God saw every man to be saved, therefore, inasmuch as God
is concerned no one was predestined for condemnation. However, He devised a
means which is the only option He has made available for all men to be saved and that is in Christ. This is the will of God. By God’s foreknowledge all men
are destined to be born in Christ but the will of man is to make the decision that
is required for him to be saved. And if one decides to accept to be born in
Christ he has entered in God’s election, justification and glorification. And
as many who could not walk into this plan and will of God have to stand for
their election, justification and glorification which is not possible without
Jesus (Eph 1:4 - 5, 1 Jn 2:12).
The standard is that anyone who
therefore, understands this reality that by the grace of God, his or her sins
have been laid on Christ and He really took them and nailed them on the cross (Col
2:13 – 14), he or she has been cleared from any condemnation (Rom 8:1). So what
the law says against him or her doesn’t matter, what matters now is what Christ
has done for him or her. In fact he or she is no longer on the clutches of the
law of sin and death, whatever that happens around him is within the dictums of
the Law of the spirit of life (Rom 8:3).
Therefore, it shows that he or she has
understood for sure that the sufficiency is not of him or her but in real terms
Christ is his or her sufficiency in meeting the requirement of the Law (2 Cor
3:5). He or she will enjoy the liberty that is in Christ,(Rom 8:21), which is the
glorious liberty awaiting anyone who will accept him; because Jesus came and
stood for our liberty and made sure He obtained it for us. As a result of this,
he or she that has come into Christ has no history; I mean no records of his or
her past (2 Cor 5:17). His or her histories begin in Christ, the life that He
or she now lives is in Christ and it is recorded in Christ. The good news is
that it is a good life because it records no fault.
Interestingly, his or her life is of
God (2 Cor 5:18), I mean his or her life do not belong to him or her anymore
once he or she has conceded it to God in Christ. He has been purchased of the
blood of Jesus Christ and he is now a property of Jesus Christ, the devil has
no legal right over him or her (1 Cor 6:20) whatever he or she does is no
longer under the auspices of the devil and cannot be ascertained or judged by
him, because the believer is not under sin but under grace (Rom 6:14) and this
implies that the seed of sin that use to be in him has been taken away and the
seed of righteousness which is of God has been planted in him and as a result
sin does not exist in him (1 Jn 3:9).
It means therefore, that the instincts
of sin though might come on him, but the reality is that it can no longer have
dominion over him. He now has the power to resist it and it is done away with
in his life. He is no longer sin conscious but righteousness and every
unfruitful works of darkness do not have a base in him anymore (Eph 5:11). He
was not able to handle thing of this nature before, but having conceded to
Christ, he now becomes the temple of God (1 Cor 6:19), so the Spirit of God
abodes in him causing him to will and to do according to God’s purpose in his
life (Phil 2:13).
Note that this inherent ability
couldn’t be there if he or she has not accepted that Jesus should come into his
or her life.
