“But
as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.”
1 Cor 2:9 – 10 (KJV)
Case Study Text:
“And
so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but
that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

Cor 15:45 – 47 (KJV)
As I said earlier, the coming of the
Second Adam is not a convoluted idea that was concocted or a fluke that is to
be seen as farcical because some school of thoughts believed it doesn’t have
dependable source. One thing is clear, it takes one who is spiritually inclined
to comprehend the fact that it is not something hard for a loving God to take a
humble decision because of love. Therefore, God decided to come out of God and
take the form of man and to exist as man in order to fulfill His eternal
purpose for man because He loves the world (Ps 110:1, Jn 3:16, 1Tim 3:16).This
is the way He has orchestrated it before the foundation of the earth. The first
Adam was not really the man created in Gen 1:26, he is the figure of Him that
was to come and that was why he was never called the image of God in the
scripture (Rom 5:14).
The first Adam was created because the
Spirit who is the real image of God will definitely need a body to function on
this earth (1 Cor 15:44 – 45, Col 1:15, Heb 1:3). When the time came God
manifested through the body of a woman who is a descendant of the first Adam
and dwells among men (Jn 1:13 – 14). The first Adam was made of the soil of the
earth, but the Second Adam is the incarnate who emanate from above (1 Cor 15:44
– 45). The first Adam became the prototype of those born after the flesh and
the Second Adam became the prototype of those born after the Spirit (Jn 3:5 –
6). This is the eternal purpose of God that sons will be born unto Him in
Christ, those born not of the flesh but of the Spirit (Eph 1:5).
However, at the fullness of time the Second
Adam’s arrival came and He did come in a humble manner in order to avoid
distractions (Gal 4:4). This is not a demonstration of weakness but as He has
taken the nature of man He has to undergo the normal human development and God
is not a magician. It should be recalled that a star that appeared because of
His birth nearly terminated His existence. He has to grow in stature and
wisdom, a process that involves learning, skill acquisition and all human
strata of developments (Luk 2:52). So He grew up among men and there was
nothing that makes Him look different from other men. All of these happened
because He has to go through the process of humility and in it learn obedience.
Since His coming is a stipulation of
the scripture, it implies that He must live His life according to the
stipulations of the scripture and that is; His identification with what the
scripture says concerning Him is important. And there is no way He would have
done that if He has no knowledge of what the scripture says concerning Him.
This suggests that His wisdom should be built particularly around the
scripture. So as from the age of 12 He started showcasing His attachment to the
scripture; and His adolescence years became a busy period of
studying and learning the scripture though His is God wrap up in Man. This is
all because God is a God of process and in His process His purposes within the
intervals are made known.
God did not leave them without a
witness, He sent forth a witness that will identify Him and make Him know among
the people. A man called John was that forerunner that came before the Second
Adam to announce His arrival and declare among the people His purpose of coming
(Jn 1:29). He made it known and open among the people that He is the Lamb of God
that has come to take away the sins of the whole world. But for John to identify
Him since He didn’t know Him beforehand a ministry was given to him and so by
carrying out this ministry, he must be able to identify Him. The ministry of
baptism was given to John in order for him to be able to identify the Second
Adam and the confirmation will be that as he was baptizing people if the Second
Adam comes, the Holy Ghost will descend on Him like a dove (Jn 1:28 – 34).
It would have been wrong for the
Second Adam to come into the world without an authentic witness that will
assure the people of His presence among them. Also, it is not proper for Him to
start bearing witness for Himself, someone should confirm Him (Jn 5:31 – 33). Also, it is interesting to know that John
didn’t come of his own accord, it was stated in the prophecy that He will come
and make the way straight for the messiah (Isa 40:3 – 4).The works that He did
also bears witness that He is the Second Adam, because nobody could do all that
He did if not the messiah as prophesied in the Scripture (Isa 11:1 – 7, Jn
5:36).
