“I
have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is
come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come.”
Jn 16:12-13
“Which
things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which
the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
1Cor 2:13
Case Study Text:
“All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works.”
2Tim 3:16-17 (KJV)
The hallmark of this life is when one
has obtain eternal life, eternal life is the crown of life, and this is the
plan of God for all men that they will be saved and truly come to the knowledge
of the truth that He loves them (1 Tim 2:3 – 4). So in this process of Christ’s
death, it is important to state that the death of The Christ should not to be
seen as martyr of someone who did nothing and has to suffer for others. No! The
death of the Christ is the requirement to meet the justice that should be rendered
for the total emancipation of man from deadness in sin. Therefore, Jesus didn’t
die a good man’s death, but He died to take away sin from the world, which is a
death to meet the legal standing as regards to what it takes to undo the
existence of sin (1 Tim 1:15 – 17).
This implies that no one who
contributed to His death should be held responsible for it, because whatever
that happened to Him was the fulfillment of the Scriptures so that mankind
should be liberated from sin and eternal death. Therefore, all those who played one
role or the other in His death did that for their own good, if they could
understand the meaning of what His death represented. If Judas had stayed till
the resurrection day and had seen Christ, He would have accepted him as He did
accept Thomas (Jn 11:49 – 52, 20:26 – 28)
Therefore, the death of Christ is the
demonstration of God’s Grace. The Grace of God is that outstanding ways of God
in bypassing legitimate and legal standing orders and offering solution to any
mess man has done to himself. The Grace of God is the demonstration of God’s
love in a way it surpasses all knowledge. It is that indescribable step that
God takes to rescue man from condemnation. Come to think of it, is unfathomable
how a holy God will decide to make Himself sin in order to save His own creatures
from His own wrath (1Tim 3:16). To the man out there it is unimaginable; it
looks like some cock and bull stories and to some doubters (those who believe
that man should pay for his sins) it is too common to think of and therefore,
it looks unrealistic. But to those of us who are insiders it is a reality, we
understand what the Love of God stands for and as a result we are not bewildered
(1 Cor 2:13 -14). Because we are the ones who have our senses exercised in the
scheme of righteousness and definitely and vividly by reason of Christ’s
revelation resonating in us understand what the length, breadth, height and
depth of God’s Love stand for (Eph 3:18, Heb 5:14). Encapsulated in this Love
of God is that unprecedented gesture God made in saving sinners while they are
still walloping in their sins (Rom 5:7 - 8). The Grace of God is that we
should be saved not because we did something better to merit our salvation but
He understood our vulnerability and bankruptcy and as a result extended His
hand of grace (the grace that is free without any cost). So that no man can
boast and say I was capable that is why God saved me! This is purely the gift
of God and not a reward at all (Rom 5:14 – 21).
In the demonstration of the grace of
God, the unqualified is made qualified without his contribution or effort. The
Law says man is not qualified to be saved, but Grace says man is qualified. The
Law says is all about man but Grace says man has nothing to do with it; I take
care of it (Eph 2:5, 8-9). The Old Testament therefore, speaks and stands for
the Law and it ministers death unto man (2 Cor 3:7) but the New Testament
speaks and stands for Grace and it ministers salvation and life unto man (2 Cor 3:6, Titus 2:11).
Note that before this time there was
only one Testament and it was not seen as Old but the need to do away with this
Testament came at the fullness of time. So on that table of Passover night
Jesus Christ took the cup and bread bless them and made an avowal that
nullified the existence or the enforcement of the Old Testament as a means of
regulation as regards to God and His people. This New Testament is not going to
be temporary but everlasting, because after He had the Passover with His
disciples, they went out and sang a hymn (Ps 136) a hymn that stands for the
everlasting mercy of God. Therefore, the New Covenant is pivoted on God’s mercy
and not on man’s ability.
