“But
as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into
the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all
things, yea, the deep things of God.”
1 Cor 2:9 – 10 (KJV)
Case Study Text:
“And
so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was
made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but
that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is
of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.”

Cor 15:45 – 47 (KJV)
The fact remains that whatever that
must have decoyed the man into disobeying the instruction from God must have
said something that appeared admirable on the surface than that which God has
said to him. This implies that, as the man continued to focus on the tree of
knowledge of good and evil, the fruit of the tree started communicating to him
and he began to see and hear something from the fruit that sounds and appears
ravishing. Such deceptive disposition of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of
good and evil sends illusory signal that captured the heart of the man and his
inability to resist made him to give in and he subjected himself to the
commands of the tree. In that case he saw no evil in the tree and as a result the
tree to him is harmless and cannot produce death and if it cannot produce death
it must be good for consumption. So he filled his heart with thoughts on how
harmless and beautiful the fruit is and that overrules whatever God must have
said is vital and disastrous about it.
The only way to ascertain if his decision
and action is right is the aftermath of what he has done. The result indicated
that he actually died which makes the instruction from God is the right and
truthful instruction, a true revelation that he just obeyed a lie from whatever
the tree of knowledge of good and evil represents. Therefore contained in the
instruction of God is truth and this truth gives life, whereas contained in the
instruction of whatever the tree of knowledge of good and evil represents is
lie and this lie gives death. The death which this tree of knowledge of good
and evil offers is not physical extinction but spiritual separation between the
man and God, because the man preferred what is physical to that which is
spiritual.
On the other hand, if from the tree of
knowledge of good and evil lie is produced, it means that whatever that tree
represents is the originator or founder of lies and in the same vein it is right
to say that the tree of life produces truth and whatever it represents is the
originator and founder of truth. At this juncture, what both trees represented
have not been made known, but God in His foreknowledge knew and warned the man
to stay clear of the tree of knowledge of good and evil because from this tree,
the tempter will come and lure him into disobedience. There are ways the man
would have avoided transgressing the borderline of the instruction given to
him. One of the ways is that he should have ignored the existence of that tree
and focuses his attention on the ones that God told him to take from. In that
case, the chance of communicating with the tree would have been of zero probability
but taking cognizant of its existence made the way for communication and in the
communication the weakness of the man was exposed. Whatever the tree is
representing wouldn’t miss the opportunity to take the power from the man and
have him under his control.
The same way it is, that when one
decides to focus one’s attention on a particular thing, that thing begin to
communicate with the individual. In the communication, questions are raised and
answers are given. Such answers bring solutions to the wants or if not the
needs of the particular individual, and as a result he or she begin to see that
particular thing as a remedy to his or her need. The awareness of the existence
of that particular thing and communication to it will cause someone to take a
decision that ordinarily he wouldn’t have taken if he or she is not aware of
the existence of that thing though it does exist.
The writer of the book of Genesis
could not demystify who this tempter is clearly, because this tempter was
subtle for him to understand and couldn’t help it but to say is 'The Serpent.' This
is not just an ordinary serpent but The Serpent, which is an indication that is
a serpent on its own class. A lack of clear revelation of what and who this
serpent is makes it very difficult for its works and manifestations to be known
by people and as a result, its works sometimes are attributed to God.
