“But
ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly
Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and
church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of
all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of
the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things
than that of Abel.”
Heb
12:22 – 24 (KJV)
Furthermore, we have seen that one of
the benefits the believer receives as he comes under the rule of the law of
Spirit of life in Christ is that his mindset is totally reconfigured, though
this process involves a continuous process until full maturity is attended. This
process is called the process of regeneration; the man is now a regenerated
man. The Holy Ghost who powers the life in Christ targets the mind of the
believer to reconfigure it, so that his reasoning and ideology will change
drastically to suite his new nature. This is very important because, the
product of the mind of the believer will definitely be the result of the kind
of life he exhibits and such life must be in line with what is obtainable in
the Kingdom of Light. Therefore, where the inclination of the thinking or
reasoning pattern of the believer lies matters a lot because by this, people
will ascertain where he belongs and eventually if it doesn’t portray the Kingdom
of Light something is wrong! Hence the advice from Apostle Paul that I quote “And be not conformed to this world: but be
ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that
good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Rom 12:2).
Here, Apostle Paul rightly points out
that a believer should be ‘transformed by the renewing of his mind’ which
suggests that the only way a believer can be transformed is by renewing his
mind. The word translated transformed is the Greek word metamorphoo meaning
metamorphosis. And we understand what is like when an insect metamorphoses, say
for instance a butterfly, it is obvious that there is no resemblance between
the maggot and the lava and even the full grown butterfly. This is what the
life of the believer is like when he starts the process of transformation in
Christ. There is no resemblance between what he has become and what he used to
be.
Before I continue let me say something
again concerning the quotation above, there is some anomaly there which
suggests that the will of God is of three kinds; a perfect understanding of
that verse by proper revelation indicates otherwise. What that verse in fact
infers is that the will of God is always good, acceptable and perfect. Is not
like there is a good will of God, an acceptable will of God and a perfect will
of God as some schools of thought suggests. However, it is very important that
the Holy Ghost works on the mind of the believer because whatever the output of
the life of the believer will be, will definitely be as a result of what his
mind produces. Therefore, the Holy Ghost patterns and construes his mind in
order to function within the parameters of the will of God and as well gives
him the ability to identify and concur that the will of God is always good,
acceptable and perfect for him and in his life.
With this placement or platform of his
mind, the believer will not find himself struggling to function in the will of
God; I mean it will be very easy for him to accept rebuke, correction and
advice from the Holy Ghost without struggling to do that. This implies that at
this stage, the culture of the believer in Christ will easily be seen
manifesting in him and he lives a life beyond the law. Once a believer’s mind
is confirmed to the dictums of the Holy Ghost he is free from the entanglement
of the law and as a result he does things or obeys not because his trying to
avoid some consequences but this is the way he has been configured to live. So
he starts living a life emanating from his spirit not a life that is piloted by
his carnal reasoning or within his sensory realm. At this time, whatever the
output of his life is not of his own making because he cannot truly say for
sure that he is the one dictating what he does, and of course left for him
alone he doesn’t have the withal to do those things but because something has
over powered his will and nullifies his natural ability (Phil 2:13).
Let me clarify some facts here, the
activities of the Holy Ghost in the life of the believer is not one kind of spooky
activities that comes over the believer and in the mix of it the believer is
lost and could have himself. No, the process of renewing or reconfiguring of
the mind of the believer starts by the Holy Ghost speaking to the believer
sometimes within the spirit of the believer and mainly through the engrafted
word. Apostle Paul puts it better in his epistle to the Corinthians and I quote
“But we all, with open face beholding as
in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to
glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (2Cor 3:18). The glass here
represents the word of God and, as the believer continues to listen and read
the word which is an engrafted word by the Holy Spirit, the spirit of the word
will continue to penetrate and permeate his soul, and here the word has the
ability to turn the base of the soul to what the word says.
