Text Of Interest:
“But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.”
Heb 12:22 –
24 (KJV)
The consequence of this shortcoming is
that he will somehow continue to live a life that is not different from the
life that he lived while in the kingdom of darkness not knowing that he has
been freed. So it is possible to see him having and going through things that
he was going through while he was in the kingdom of darkness and this makes it
difficult to differentiate his old life from his new life. Now,it is important
to understand what the law of Spirit of life in Christ does in the life of an
individual, and that is, it frees one from the law of sin and death. This is
very unique and should be considered as an important gesture or situation in
the life of the one being delivered from the kingdom of darkness. The
understanding of what it means to be free from the law of sin and death will
definitely turns the life of the individual around for the better. Also, to
understand what it means to be under the rule of the law of Spirit of life in
Christ in its totality will drastically activate a force that is unquenchable
in the life of any believer.
However, as I stated earlier, the
freedom the unbeliever obtained is as a result of what is called substitutionary
work of Christ, which means in the eyes of God, whatever that was meant for the
unbeliever to go through, Jesus Christ took his place. The unbeliever by proxy
in Jesus Christ went through the ordeals He went through. Apostle Paul sums it
up this way “For he hath made him to be
sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in
him.” (2Cor 5:21). It says that He was made sin not that He became sin,
which implies that He took a position that was not His. He didn’t commit any
sin but sin was laid on Him and He took it voluntarily for mankind. That is to
say that the sin of mankind was laid on Him and without mincing words He took
it and bears the consequence of it. On this note whatever is the punishment of
sin for man was laid on Him and He took it for man and as a result man is free
from the consequence of his sin because Jesus Christ took it for him.
Now consider this “The next day John
seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh
away the sin of the world.” (Jn 1:29). The quotation says He took the sin of
the world, this implies that there is no more sin (sin nature or root) in the
world because Jesus has taken it away. It is interesting to know that every man
will face judgment as a result of sins he or she has committed and here Jesus
Christ made Himself available for the judgment of sin. Therefore, no man will
face judgment again as a result of sin he has committed, rather as result of
not accepting the fact that Jesus did take the consequence of his sin away. Anyone
who accepts this reality that Jesus died in his place has been freed from any
consequence of sin and will not face judgment because he has accepted that
Jesus took his place. In the same way, anyone who refuses to accept the fact that
Jesus has taken the consequence of his sin is not freed from the consequence of
his sin and will definitely face judgment because of his refusal to accept the
finished work of Christ (Jn 3;18).
Freedom from condemnation is one of
the freedoms the law of Spirit of life in Christ has offered to man. It is
interesting to understand that once the law of Spirit of life in Christ has
taken over someone’s life automatically it disables the effectiveness of the
law of sin and death in the life of that individual. The implication of this is
that the individual is no longer under the rule of sin and death and as a
result the manifestation and effect of the law of sin and death come to an end.
This suggests that when one is under the influence of the law of sin and death,
it means he or she is being possessed by the power behind the kingdom of darkness
and such individual’s attitude will of course portray the activities of the
kingdom of darkness. On the other hand, when one is under the influence of the
law of Spirit of life in Christ, he or she cannot be possessed by the powers of
darkness but it is true he or she can be oppressed by the power of darkness.
As
a matter of fact, it means that the power of darkness loses potency in influencing
the believer, even in the face of some manifestation or evidence of the presence
of darkness in the life of that individual. Therefore, some symptoms and dream
manifestation cannot hold waters in the life of the believer; this is because
those things may be legalized in the kingdom of darkness but if they take place
in the life of a believer, who is under the influence and control of the law of
Spirit of life in Christ they don’t matter at all.
Take for instance; what is legalized
in a country may not be legalized in another country because both countries are
operating on different constitutional platforms.
